What should be the size of a scrum team? The recommended size of the scrum team is five to nine people. Why is it not bigger? Bigger teams create more communication channels and it becomes more complicated to self-organize as well as the ceremonies start being too lengthy to the point of being impractical. This will lead to inefficiencies and bringing more people into the team will not lead to better productivity. If the work cannot be completed by nine people, form 2 separate scrum teams with size 5 to 9 and coordinate their work on the same product by using scaled agile approaches such as LeSS or SAFe for even bigger configurations.
