Agile Tip of the Day, 10 May, 2021

There is an ongoing discussion in the Agile community in regards to if a ScrumMaster has to serve only 1 team or can serve multiple teams. According to statistics, 75% of ScrumMasters dedicate less than half their time to the ScrumMaster role while 45% support two or more teams simultaneously. 88% of ScrumMasters take on additional responsibilities. The answer to this question is that it depends on the Agile maturity of the team and the experience of the ScrumMaster. If the team is new to Agile or the ScrumMaster new to the role, then dedicated 1 ScrumMaster serving 1 team works best. If the teams are well matured and truly self-organizing, an experienced ScrumMaster can serve 2 or 3 teams simultaneously.
