When creating Definition of Ready and Definition of Done, ensure the definitions are simple and realistic. A common mistake new teams do is creating very elaborate definitions which are not applicable to their current situations and maturity. This results in the definitions sitting on paper but not applied in practice. Instead, aim for a simple definition and refine and evolve it in time as the team practices mature. Ensure also that everyone is involved in the co-creation of the definitions as in that way they have not only input but also buy-in in these important team agreements.
